New replacement building for veterinary and food monitoring office, Dresden, contract awarded

The planned new building for the Dresden Veterinary and Food Inspection Office will be constructed on a site that was previously used as a central small animal clinic, developed in the 1960s.

The new building will replace two existing structures, completing a cluster of buildings inspired by traditional Saxon three- and four-sided farmsteads. Over time, various additions and a heterogeneous built environment have blurred the clarity of this typology. The new structure will reestablish a clear boundary for the remaining building ensemble, distinctly defining its relationship with the open space to the northwest.
