Moderation: Juliane Aleithe, Stiftung Bauhaus Dessau

- Architecture Day Bike Tour28.06.2025A Great Success:On Architecture Day, we had the great pleasure of welcoming numerous architecture enthusiasts to our bike tour through current projects by KNERER UND LANG – all under a brilliant summer sky. Despite – or perhaps because of – the fantastic weather, far more visitors joined us than expected to experience our work firsthand.
With great dedication, our team presented several project stops and explained the architectural concepts and unique features behind them. We were especially pleased with the strong interest and the many engaging conversations that took place throughout the tour.
A heartfelt thank you goes to our organizing team led by Raja Bretschneider. Refreshments and snacks were thoughtfully provided – including the brave transportation of drinks by cargo bike.
We sincerely thank everyone who participated and made the day such a success. We’re already looking forward to seeing you again next year!Photo: CTR - Day of Architecture28.06.2025discovery tour by bikeJoin us on an architectural discovery tour by bike through Dresden!
We will visit two projects by KNERER UND LANG, accompanied by a mobile pop-up architecture offering surprising insights.
Our tour begins at Gerokstraße 38, a renovated student residence from the 1970s. During a guided tour, you'll learn more about the design and construction process – accompanied by an APERITIF IN “LIGHT GREEN”, inspired by the façade design.
We’ll then continue along the Elbe River by bike – either on your own or with a rented MOBIbike.
A short stop takes us to Hauptstraße, where we explore renovated buildings of East German modernism.
Our final destination is the newly constructed Marina Garden on Leipziger Straße 35. After enjoying coffee and cake in the green courtyard, we’ll explore the building as part of a guided tour.
To conclude the day, we invite you to enjoy a refreshing DRINK IN “AUBERGINE” – and take part in an open exchange in the courtyard. - Reality-Check19.03.2025Unterföhring maintenance depotJust over 15 months ago, the new Unterföhring maintenance depot was officially inaugurated. Now, we had the opportunity to take a look at its current operations and present the completed project to new developers. The focus was on sustainable construction methods, energy-efficient technology, and modern design concepts..
The modern facility, distinguished by its striking pink façade, has now been fully integrated into daily operations and has proven to be an efficient hub for municipal infrastructure. Our visit showed that both working conditions for employees and logistical processes have significantly improved. Thanks to innovative concepts and well-thought-out planning, tasks such as street cleaning, winter services, and green space maintenance can be optimally coordinated..
The development of the Unterföhring maintenance depot remains exciting, and we will continue to report on new developments and progress in the future!Photo:KL - Project Wrap-Up12.03.2025student residence, Gerokstraße in DresdenThe student residence on Gerokstraße in Dresden has been successfully completed!
Our specialist in student residence construction, Katja Karbstein, led the project with great dedication and expertise, guiding her team—Christoph Thomas and Kristina Grimm—from planning to completion. Her keen eye for both functionality and aesthetics is evident in the clear architecture and well-designed use of space..
In addition to providing much-needed housing for students, this residence creates an environment that seamlessly blends modern design with practical requirements. The striking color scheme and efficient use of space make this project a true highlight in our portfolio.

A notable example is highlighted in a feature: the recycling center in Augsburg. The article concludes: "With the depot, which opened in 2017, Knerer and Lang have demonstrated that even a construction project with minimal design flexibility can result in high-quality architecture that serves everyone through a few clever touches."
