The student residence at Hochschulstraße 48, along with two identical high-rises, was constructed in the late 1970s in a highly compact urban layout. Its location is ideal due to its proximity to both the university and the city center, making the continued use of the residence, with its 304 spaces, and the necessary renovation of the entire complex essential.
The renovation plan included a ventilated curtain façade made of large, silver-anodized aluminum panels, unifying the building, the staircase, and the newly added student club into one cohesive structure. The deep, sculptural window reveals were clad with the same façade material.
To give the façade a dynamic appearance, the former loggia areas were modified with staggered window openings matching the size of the standard windows, along with floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows.
