Protestant altar square St Peter's Cathedral, Bautzen

St Peter's Cathedral in Bautzen is a unique example of Gothic architecture. The church is characterised by its simultaneous use by both the Protestant and Catholic congregations, as well as the axial bend. The design for the chancel responds to this, derives its design from it and adds a new layer of time.
The round shape of the altar opens up the space and integrates the Catholic part of the church. A slight bevelling of the altar table towards the Protestant congregation fills the space and establishes a connection to the Protestant section. The altar furnishings are proposed to be very minimalist, with the open Bible forming the most important component.
