In the suburb of Bremen's railway station on the derelict former Fruchthof in the line of sight to the station forecourt, a new urban ensemble consisting of a high-rise hotel, a public multi-storey car park with service areas and a long-distance bus terminal has been created. In terms of urban planning, the long-distance bus terminal is located between the buildings of the Überseemuseum and the cinema, which characterise the urban space, as an extension of the track axis. All parts of the building enter into a close urban and architectural dialogue and complement each other functionally. The prefabricated elements of the concrete façades contrast with the lightweight membrane construction of the Fernbus Terminal. The curved shapes bring all the components together thematically and make reference to the surrounding listed buildings.

The concept pursues the idea of an open and bright urban square, which is realised through a modular, parasol-like and translucent membrane construction. The public uses on the ground floor of the arcade complement the inner-city bus station functionally and revitalise it.Thanks to the modular design of the long-distance bus roof, each canopy head can be removed individually and covered with a new membrane, ensuring a high degree of revisability. The entire steel structure is galvanised and also painted, which means that it is expected to have a long service life that will stand the test of time.
The architectural concept is the result of a limited realisation competition, which was awarded 1st prize.
